Major Accident North Main at the Bypass LIBERTY, January 20, 2012 - Just after 6:00 PM on Friday a major accident closed North Main Street at the SH 146 Bypass for over an hour.
An 18-wheeler flat bad truck hauling a large mud pump attempted to make the wide turn from the Bypass to go north on North Main Street at too high a rate of speed and lost its’ load of equipment overturning the trailer it was pulling in the roadway.
Debris from the accident struck cars waiting for the light on North Main.
Sgt. Ewing of the City of Liberty Police Department was at the light in her patrol vehicle and witnessed the accident.
The truck was driven by Ruddy Lenormand age 53 and the vehicle was being operated by Smart Oilfield Services.
Smart Oilfield Services brought in heavy equipment wench trucks to pick up the overturned equipment and clear the roadway. According to Sgt. Ewing the driver was issued a citation for Unsafe Speed. The truck was insured.
