| Intoxicated Driver Flees Accident Scene LIBERTY, February 4, 2012 - The City of Liberty Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on US 90 about half way between Liberty and Dayton at 6:12 PM on Saturday.
According to Detective Sean Atchley of the City of Liberty Police Department, witnesses had observed a pickup that was all over the road and was driving in the inside lane eastbound toward Liberty. As the pickup pulled beside a Silver sports coupe in the outside lane it crossed the line into the outside lane striking the silver sports coupe causing the driver to loose control. The Silver coupe left the roadway out of control and slid down the steep shoulder on the south side of US 90 all the way to the fence line.
City of Liberty EMS responded to the scene. Luckily no one had to be transported to the hospital. After the collision the driver of the pickup did not stop to render aid and kept driving. A witness to the accident followed the pickup notifying police of the vehicles location and direction of travel.
City of Liberty Police were able to locate the stop the vehicle on Grand Street in Liberty near the School Administration building near the football stadium.
Rodriguez also had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. It was a bottle of Bud Lite.
The driver of the sliver coupe was identified as Jeff Lou age 22 of Sugarland. Jeff attended Liberty High School and now lives in Sugarland. He was coming to Liberty to attend a birthday party in his honor given by friends and former classmates when the accident occurred..
