Alice Braud-Jones Speaks To Libertad Chapter Members

LIBERTY, February 2, 2012 - Members of the Libertad Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution enjoyed guest speaker, Alice Braud-Jones on Thursday, January 19th, 7:00 p.m. in the Price Daniel Meeting Room.

Ms. Braud-Jones’ program was entitled, “My Heroes: The Code Talker, The Commandant and the DAR” and included a large display of memorabilia to enhance her presentation as she related her relationship with Dr. Samuel Billison one of the WWII Navajo “Code Talkers.” As a state officer in New Mexico, Ms. Braud-Jones recommended Dr. Billison for NSDAR’s coveted Americanism Award which he received and her trip with him to Washington, D.C. and Continental Congress to accept this honor.

Alice Braud-Jones is the current Regent for Sam Houston Chapter, NSDAR in the Clear Lake area and serves on several committees for TSDAR and NSDAR. After her program, guests and members enjoyed refreshments furnished by hostesses Sara Brown, Laura Castle and Sue Park.

A donation in honor of Ms. Braud-Jones was sent to Bacone College where Dr. Billison attended school. Bacone College is a four year liberal arts school which was established for American Indians in 1800 in Muskogee, Oklahoma and one of several schools that NSDAR supports.
