Fatal Accident on FM 1960

DAYTON, January 8, 2012 – A life long resident of Dayton, TX, Mr. Lonnie Gruver, was killed in a two-vehicle accident on FM 1960 west of Dayton.

According to investigating DPS Troopers Gruver was driving a Chrysler Sebring traveling west on FM 1960 when he attempted a left turn into the driveway of the Grace Community Church early Sunday evening.

A silver Lexus sedan traveling west behind Gruver’s Chrysler, registered to Regina Rogers of Beaumont, TX attempted to pass the Chrysler as it attempted to turn left and the vehicles collided in the eastbound lane striking the Chrysler in the driver’s side.

The vehicles suffered extensive damage in the accident and there was a considerable amount of debris in the roadway.

FM 1960 was restricted to a single lane of traffic around the accident scene until the investigation and clean up could be completed.
