Disturbance in Gulf Likely to Become Tropical Storm

LIBERTY, July 27, 2011 - Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Branch told i-dineout.com today that his department is monitoring the situation regarding the tropical system off the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula that is entering the Gulf of Mexico.

Branch has been a party to conference calls with the National Weather Service and the State Operations Center in Austin, Tx. and reports that the area of disturbed weather will become a tropical storm later today.

The strength of the storm and the exact track is undetermined at this time, however, it does appear the system will hit somewhere in Texas late Friday night or Saturday.

The National Weather Service will be holding another conference call at 4:00 PM today to update information regarding the system.
