Dayton Man Dies in Accident DAYTON, July 26, 2010 - According to Sgt. Doug O’Quinn of the City of Dayton Police Department it was around 10:57 PM on Sunday night that the department was notified of a one-vehicle accident on US 90 about five miles west of Dayton.
The Dayton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene to assist in the recovery of the young male driver of the vehicle.
According to O’Quinn the silver, Chevy pickup was traveling west on US 90 when for an unknown reason it the left the roadway to the right, ran through the ditch, rolled over on the driver’s side and wrapped itself around a tree about 50 feet from the railroad tracks.
Justice of the Peace Glenn Pruitt of Dayton conducted an inquest at the scene and pronounced the driver, Richard A. Musser age 25 of Dayton, dead at the scene. Musser is the father of two small children.
An autopsy will be performed at the Jefferson County Medical Examiners Office in Beaumont. The westbound lanes of US 90 was closed for a considerable time during the recovery and clean up of this accident.
