Man Taken to Jail for Assaulting Family Members

LIBERTY, May 8, 2010 - Liberty Police arrested a man at an apartment in the 2400 block of Grand Ave. around 10:00 PM on Saturday night.

According to Officer Jennifer Bowles of the City of Liberty Police Department a Hispanic man had been helping his sister and her boyfriend move earlier in the day when he became violent and confronted the pair.

The couple managed to lock the man out of the apartment and he kicked in the door pulling a knife on the couple.

When police were called the man threw the knife into a parking lot across the street.

Police recovered the knife and arrested the man identified as Joseph Montoya age 24 of Liberty.

Montoya was transported to the Liberty County Jail charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon a First Degree Felony.
