Accident on Wallisville Road LIBERTY, April 10, 2010 - The City of Liberty Police Department was dispatched to Wallisville Road, FM 563, around 2:20 PM on Saturday afternoon for a one vehicle accident just south of Smart Materials, about three miles south of US 90 in Liberty.
According to Officer Rolando Aguilar a Mustang was traveling slow southbound on FM 563 when a Silver Pontiac Sedan attempted to pass the Mustang as well as a Blue Chevy Pickup behind the Mustang. As the Pontiac attempted to pass, the Chevy pickup pulled into the left lane to pass the Mustang as well.
The driver of the Chevy Pickup, Kenneth Russell Thompson age 31 of Liberty, stated that when he started to pull into the left lane the Pontiac was right beside him with no where to go.
The driver of the Pontiac, Jana Jones Spencer age 38 of Liberty lost control of her vehicle, left the roadway to the left, when through the ditch colliding with a culvert and came to rest in a private drive. The driver was wearing a seat belt but was banged up as a result of the accident. City of Liberty EMS responded to the scene but the driver refused transport to the hospital. It is thought the driver will visit the hospital by private vehicle later for treatment. According to Officer Aguilar the driver of the Pontiac was not insured. Further citations in this accident will be part of the continuing investigation into its cause. |
