Housefire in Tarkington

TARKINGTON, February 2, 2010 - Shortly after 1:30AM on Monday morning, Tarkington firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire on CR2184 near CR2192. When Dispatch advised that the caller reported a large fire, Tarkington Assistant Chief Dalton Gregory had additional units from Cleveland and North Liberty County fire departments toned to bring tankers and additional manpower. Upon arrival, he found a large double-wide mobile home fully-involved and requested another tone to bring Plum Grove VFD.

The structure was apparently unoccupied and the fire progressed to the point that nothing was salvageable, so firefighters went into defensive mode, concentrating on keeping the fire from spreading. The fire marshal’s office was contacted to investigate the cause of the fire.
