City of Cleveland is Celebrating its 75th Year of Incorporation CLEVELAND, June 24, 2010 - The City of Cleveland will set the stage for ‘making hometown memories’ at its three-day 75th Anniversary of Incorporation Celebration. On Friday, July 2, Stancil Park will showcase a BBQ Cook-off and Community Dance. On Saturday, July 3, a parade (including one just for the pooches) will kick off events for the day in downtown Cleveland. An antique car show and Volunteer Fire Department Water Competition will be held at the Civic Center. Music, food and fun will be offered to all at Stancil Park with a cake walk, horseshoe tournament, free fire truck rides, arts-and-craft vendors, and more! The Texan Theater will be showing the 1935 edition of “The Bride of Frankenstein”; in keeping with the times, the cost of admission will be 5 cents for children and 10 cents for adults. The Cleveland Historical Museum will be open to the public all day. The evening’s activities at the Cleveland High School stadium will prove to be just as exciting with free musical entertainment provided by the Access Band, Texas Roadrunner Band, and My Hearts Cry Band. A patriotic twenty-one minute fireworks show synchronized with patriotic music will highlight the night. A free supervised Kids’ Zone with games and activities will be offered for children who are in kindergarten through fifth grade during the concert and fireworks. Concessions will be offered throughout the evening by the Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department. On Sunday, July 4, the Senior Citizens Center will offer a Sunday Luncheon including fried chicken with all the fixings. Bill & Rene Morris will be headlining a patriotic concert which will be held at the Civic Center. A Walk Down Memory Lane Birthday Celebration will pay tribute to all Clevelanders who are 90 years old and older PARKING: Limited free parking will be offered for Stancil Park activities on Easy Street (which is behind Stancil Park) and at the Civic Center. Free parking will also be available at the Cleveland High School and Middle School located on Houston Avenue. SHUTTLE: On Saturday, a free shuttle service will run from the Cleveland High School and Middle School parking lots which are located on Houston Avenue. The shuttle will run every 15 minutes transporting festival goers to the downtown area, Cleveland Historical Museum, Stancil Park and the Civic Center.
