Letter to the Editor

LIBERTY, January 10, 2010 - The following is a letter to the editor received on Sunday, january 10, 2010.

Dear i-dineout.com,

I was hoping that you might be able to help me out with posting a letter for me on your site. I am with the Hull-Daisetta Fire and Rescue and we are looking for some help with our department. As with all departments we have our highs and our lows and right now we are on the low side of volunteers. We feel as a department that we have a good group of people and are getting better with every passing day. Some people have told me that they can’t join because they don’t have much spare time, have families at home, and just don’t see why they should join. I want everyone to understand that we’re a volunteer organization and have the same problems. We have families that we spend time with, some of us work two jobs to make ends meet, and most of us do not have a lot of spare time to give. All we ask is that any spare time that you have you donate and help your community out.

The primary mission of the Hull Daisetta Fire Department is to provide a variety of services designed to protect the lives and property of the community and district we serve, by providing prompt and professional services in the event of fire, medical emergencies and disasters or any other event which may threaten the public welfare. We want to be recognized by our community and fellow firefighters as a model of excellence in providing services through education, prevention, and improvement, and as a department that is synonymous with the term leadership; a department that fosters an environment of involvement, trust, and cohesion; a department responsive to the needs and concerns of the community.

We believe we exist to help people, in respect for all people; that people are our most important asset, that continuous improvement is accomplished one step at a time, and to do what is best for the people we protect

If anyone is interested in joining the Fire Department or have any questions that they want to ask, they can come to the meetings, e-mail me or give me a call. We have our meetings and train every Monday night at 7:00 PM.

Thank you,

David Allison Jr
Sr. Captain
Hull-Daisetta Fire Department
