Zoë Zbranek State Tennis Alternate and MVP BEAUMONT, May 12, 2010 - Zoë Zbranek, daughter of Zeb and Angela Zbranek and granddaughter of Nelda and the late J.C. Zeke Zbranek and Bob and Cheryl Allen, has recently returned from the University of Texas Interscholastic League Regional AA Competition with both athletic and academic awards.
Zoë is a freshman at East Chambers High School and is a member of the Varsity Tennis Team. Her performance in District UIL Tennis Competition held at Lamar University qualified her for the Regional Meet. At the Regional Tournament held at Tyler Junior College, Zoë received Third Place, making her the Alternate to the State Tournament. In her final match in which she was playing for second place and a berth at the State Tournament, she was forced to retire while tied 3-3 in the first set due to extensive foot injuries. At the East Chambers High School Athletic Banquet held May 11, Zoë was recognized as the Female Most Valuable Player of the East Chambers Varsity Tennis Team. Zoë also performed in the AA One Act Play Competition. The East Chambers production of The Last Night of Ballyhoo advanced to the State Meet in Austin, where it won Second Place. Zoë has been recognized with individual acting honors at District, Area, Regional, and State level competitions. |
