Dayton Student Excels at San Antonio Whiz Bang Finals

LIBERTY, November 16, 2010 - Jacob Hill is a third year shooter for Liberty County’s 4-H Shotgun Team. He is an 11 year old resident of Dayton, TX.

October 30, Jacob attended the Whiz Bang Finals in San Antonio, TX at the National Shooting Complex. Texas Parks and Wildlife invited back the top 5 shooters from each age division in the state. Jacob was one of the 5 shooters from the Junior age division.

Whiz Bang is a 50 target game similar to 5-stand. It is shot at 5 individual stations, 10 targets per station in 5 sets of doubles. Whiz Bang was created and introduced by Texas Parks and Wildlife and is shot at all 4-H shotgun tournaments throughout the season and across the state ending the season with the State Competition in July.

After his first 50 targets were shot, Jacob was tied for first place. A shoot-off was held and Jacob lost by one target to a fellow shooter and friend from Brazos County.

Jacob’s comment, “It was a good lose. Second best Whiz Bang shooter in the state...not too bad.”
