Timothy Wells for County Commissioner Pct #2 LIBERTY, January 20, 20I0 - I want to take a minute of your time and ask you to read this announcement and give you a little incite as to why I have chosen to run for County Commissioner Pct #2. I will be running for position on the Republican Party Ballot on March 2, 2010 and remember early voting begins on February 16, 2010. I am married to the former Julie Warren and she has lived in Hull, Texas for all of her 38 years and we are the proud parents of four children, ages from 14 to 19. 3 years ago we purchased and moved into our new home in Hull since hurricane Rita got the best of the old house in Hull, and we plan to spend the rest of our lives living right here in Hull, TX. I have been a resident for about 10 years now in Liberty County, so unlike my opponents in the Primary I can’t state that my family has been here for over 5 generations, but I’m not sure that is a horrible thing. One of the basis’s After a decade of watching the political process at work in Liberty County I have decided to be a candidate for Liberty County Commissioner Precinct #2. That decision came two years ago and then about one year ago I started attending most County Commissioner’s court meetings. I have studied, in rather great detail, our local County Commissioners at work. At times I have been very proud of their effort and at times I have been disappointed. As a long time businessman I know it could be done a lot better if only the management of liberty county government can escape from the attitude of, “it’s the way we’ve always done it”. I firmly believe if the State of Texas can have a balanced budget and keep a solid balance in a “rainy day fund” then surely Liberty County can balance a budget and keep reserves. That reserve fund should be for when money is needed for unanticipated emergencies and not for the annual budget of running the county. Here in Liberty County that fund balance is being depleted each year. So the fact is we are spending more each year than we take in. I think it is just bad business and citizens of Liberty County have every right tow expect this to be the best run business in the county. Setting the right example is the right thing to do for us all. Spending millions more than we are depositing as income is bad business. Continuing on this path means that not only will our fund balance be used up but with it will go our bond rating. Then when borrowing money becomes necessary the interest rate will go up making borrowing money either too expensive or impossible. That’s more bad business for Liberty County taxpayers when it comes to a real emergency or for capital improvements when really needed. There are several goals that I feel I would need to achieve if elected as Precinct
I am asking the registered voters of Commissioner’s Precinct#2 to take the first step, with me, on the road to a better Liberty County by voting for me, Timothy Wells in the Republican Primary on March 2nd. Early voting begins February 16th. Thank you for your time. Timothy L Wells and Family
