Major Accident on FM 1409 WESTLAKE, January 2, 2010 - A major accident occurred on FM 1409 at CR 454 south of Dayton Saturday afternoon when a driver, on her way home, failed to yield the right of way while turning left.
According to DPS Trooper Troy Dyson a Silver Ford Focus traveling south on FM 1409 was driven by Linsey Walker age 63 of Dayton. Walker was on her way home and was attempted a left turn onto CR 454 when she failed to yield right of way and collided with a northbound Gold Ford Focus on its’ way to Dayton.
The accident occurred around 1:25 PM on Saturday.
The Gold Ford Focus was driven by Dana Wagner age 30 of Dayton and her passenger was Stefanie Moore age 33 of Dayton.
The occupants of both vehicles had to be cut out of their cars by Firefighters using the “Jaws of Life.”
Both the Westlake and Dayton Volunteer Fire Departments responded to rescue the victims and set up a landing zone for Life Flight.
Two Life Fight Helicopters landed at the scene and transported all the occupants of both vehicles to Houston’s Hermann Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
FM 1409 was closed for more than one hour during the rescue, investigation and clean up of this major accident. According to Trooper Dyson, Walker will receive a citation for Failure to Yield Right of Way and Wagner will receive a citation for No Driver’s License. Both vehicles were insured. |
