Major Accident in Kenefick

KENEFICK, June 5, 2010 - The Kenefick Volunteer Fire Department responded to a major accident on FM 2797 just east of Kenefick around 9:21 PM on Saturday night.

According to DPS Trooper Chris Richmond, the Ford Escape SUV was traveling west on FM 2797 in a curve when it ran off the road to the right, went through the ditch and rolled over in a pasture.

The vehicle came to rest on the driver’s side and the driver was trapped in the vehicle.

Getting the driver out of the vehicle was difficult for fire fighters in that the roof of the vehicle had to be removed to gain access to the SUV’s interior. A local property owner used his tractor with front -end loader to stabilize the vehicle as the roof was removed.

The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was identified as Bob Aubrey Tucker age 46 of Liberty. Tucker was flown to Houston’s Hermann Hospital by Life Flight from the helipad at the Kenefick Civic Center.

The vehicle was insured.

According to Trooper Richmond the vehicle was traveling at Unsafe Speed. This and other factors will by the focus of the continuing investigation into the cause of the accident by the Department of Public Safety.
