Three Vehicle Accident on US 90 in Liberty LIBERTY, November 25, 2010 - Three vehicles were involved in an accident Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 PM at the intersection of US 90 and Travis Streets in Liberty in front of the Whataburger and the KFC.
A 2001 Toyota Corolla driven by Jimmy DeWayne Gibson, Jr. age 21 of Hull, TX was attempting to cross US 90 from the Taco Bell on the south side of the highway to go north on Travis Street. The Corolla did not see oncoming westbound traffic on US 90 and a black Toyota Corolla and the black Toyota Highlander traveling west on US 90 hit is broadside. This sent the white Corolla over the curb where it collided with a utility pole.
The Black Corolla was driven by Melisa Johnson of Louisiana. The driver of the Black Highlander was Pamela Walters of Louisiana.
Corporal Jeanne Marie Ewing investigated the accident for the City of Liberty Police Department.
Luckily no one had to be transported to the Hospital by responding City of Liberty Ambulance and all parties refused medical attention.
The three westbound lanes of US 90 were closed to traffic for about 30 minutes while this accident was investigated and the damaged vehicles were removed from the roadway. Westbound traffic was restricted to the single, center turn lane during the investigation. According to Corporal Ewing Jimmy Gibson was issued a citation for Failure to Yield Right of Way to oncoming traffic.
