Pharmacy Burglar Charged

LIBERTY, January 13, 2010 – On Monday, according to Officer Hugh Bishop of the City of Liberty Police Department, the suspected burglar of the Medicine Chest Pharmacy in Liberty was identified to police by numerous callers as a results of surveillance photos published in a news story about the burglary posted Sunday night on i-dineout.com.

Callers both anonymous and otherwise identified the burglary suspect as William Tanton age 24 of Liberty.

According to Bishop, after being identified, Tanton turned himself into Liberty Police at the Police Station on Tuesday. When Tanton arrived officers noticed that he was intoxicated and he was charged with Public Intoxication and transported to the Liberty County Jail.

The following day Detective Chip Fairchild of the Liberty Police Department interviewed Tanton. Based on that interview as well as other evidence a warrant was obtained on the charge of Burglary of a Building, A State Jail Felony.

Today, Tanton remains in the Liberty County Jail where he is expected to have bond set tomorrow.
