Burglary Suspect Flees Hospital after Treatment

LIBERTY, August 10, 2010 - Yesterday Nicholas Tanner was taken into custody for Burglary of a Habitation after he was found in a woman’s home and she shot at him with a pistol on CR 2112 north of Moss Hill.

Tanner has suffered a bad cut to his arm in the process of burglarizing the woman’s home and was transported to Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center for treatment before being taken to jail.

After being treated at the hospital, Tanner, according to Hugh Bishop of the City of Liberty Police Department, got away from Deputy Sam Peirce and fled on foot making it all the way to the entrance of the Travis Park Subdivision in Liberty.

City of Liberty Police Officers responded to Travis Park and apprehended Tanner.

We asked Steve Green with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department for his comments on the incident early Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon Green said, "As to what happened at the hospital, we are currently investigating."

It is likely that Tanner will face additional charges of Fleeing and Evading Arrest or Detention.
