Accident on FM 1409

WOODWAY, June 4, 2010 - Shortly before 6:00 PM on Friday an accident occurred on FM 1409 just south of the Woodway Subdivision shortly after it had begun to rain.

According to DPS Corporal Rob Willoughby a white Isuzu Rodeo traveling south on FM 1409 left the roadway to the right, crossing the ditch and crashing into several trees.

The driver of the vehicle was Jessica Grace Stewart age 22 of Baytown.

Liberty County EMS responded to the accident scene and checked out the driver and only occupant of the vehicle for injuries. Luckily she did not require transport to the hospital.

The Rodeo sustained heavy damage as a result of the accident.

Corporal Willoughby sited three contributing factors to the accident; a wet roadway, slightly worn tires and traveling too fast for the wet road conditions.

The vehicle was insured, according to Willoughby and any citations in this accident are a matter of the continuing investigation by the Department of Public Safety.
