Fire Damages Home in Hardin HARDIN, May 5, 2010 - Early Wednesday afternoon the Hardin Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire in a single-wide manufactured home in the 2600 Block of CR 2066 north of Hardin. Lt. Ed Webb called for mutual aid from the Tarkington, Liberty and Hull-Daisetta Volunteer Fire Departments for water and manpower to fight the blaze.
According to Lt. Webb upon arrival there was fire and smoke showing on southeast side of the home coming from the master bedroom. Smoke was also coming out of all the openings in the home as well.
The Liberty County Fire Marshall was on the scene and was beginning the investigation into the cause of the fire at press time.
The home-sustained heavy fire, water and smoke damage. While on the scene i-dineout.com observed a mother dog who was obviously nursing a litter of pups somewhere. Our worst fears were that the puppies were inside the home.
However, when the son of the home owner went to a shed behind the home to get some rakes and shovels for firefighters to use in putting out the fire, the puppies came running out of the shed and they were all well.
The home was the residence of Mrs. Stewart and her son. The son of Ms. Stewart told i-dineout.com that they had puppies to give to good homes and if anyone wanted one to get in touch.
