Flu and Pneumonia Shots Available LIBERTY, September 28, 2010 - Texas Department of State Health Services, Liberty County Health Awareness Coalition and the Texas AgriLife Extension Service will be providing Pneumonia and Flu shots on October 16, 2010 - 10:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Valley Exposition. Shots are available at no cost for Medicare recipients 65 years and older who qualify. No will be turned away for inability to pay. Flu Shots will also be available for a $20 donation but as with the Pneumonia shots no one will be turned away. Pneumonia is an illness caused by bacteria in the lungs. The most common form of pneumonia is a serious lung infection that occurs mostly in people age 65 or older. Most people need a pneumonia shot only once in a lifetime when they turn 65. A second shot is recommended for those people age 65 or older who got their first shot when they were under 65. Flu and Pneumonia shots are also available at DSHS Clinic in Liberty on October 7th and 19th. To schedule an appointment in Liberty please call 936-336-4696.
