Silver Santa Christmas by Liberty Police Department

LIBERTY, December 22, 2010 - The City of Liberty Police Department in a good will gesture and working with Officers of the Department pooled their resources and this afternoon distributed gift bags to homebound residents of Liberty and distributed other goods and cards to recognize the many senior citizens who have given so much to the community over their life span.

Officer Frank Longoria with the department knew of several homebound seniors that he has assisted over the last year and helped in compiling a list of seniors who could benefit from such a program at this time of year.

Officers were dispatched in groups to different parts of town with all the materials.

Officer Josh Cummins and Dispatch Supervisor & Training Coordinator Frances Wood gave gifts bags to Nora Finely and Dorothy Web of Liberty among others.

Some of our recognized seniors are still very active in the community.

Officer Josh Cummins and Francis Wood presented a Christmas Card drawn by elementary school children to Dr. Henry Dugat, long time senior citizen of Liberty who has recently joined the staff of Allison Funeral Home, where he is already celebrating the Christmas Season and looking forward to the coming year in hopes of serving the community throughout 2011.

Cummins, Woods as well as Detective Chip Fairchild, Elaine Taylor and others then joined forces and went to the Magnolia Place Health Care Center Wednesday afternoon on Magnolia Street in Liberty and distributed more Christmas cards as well as donated materials for seniors to the facility for distribution to residents there in appreciation for the contributions that they have made to our community.
