When Relationships Go Bad LIBERTY, August 12, 2010 - The story of Martina Sellers, Gerald Glenn Nugent, Jr. and Steven Bradley Sellers is a complicated one. According to records obtained from the Liberty County Clerk’s Office, it was on September 4, 1999 that Martina Martin (Sellers) married Steven Bradley Sellers in an afternoon ceremony officiated by Reverend Brady Hayes of Liberty who was Associate Pastor of the Cornerstone Church on the SH 146 Bypass in Liberty at the time. At the time of their marriage, Steven Sellers was 21 and Martina K. Martin was 16. Apparently everything got off to a good start.
Martina Sellers at her Second DWI Arrest on Monday, August 9, 2010. Some time after the marriage of Martina to Steven Bradley Sellers, Martina Sellers took up with Gerald Glenn Nugent, Jr. and that relationship produced Brook Glynn Nugent and a young son as well. If you’ve been following this story you will know that it was on October 20, 2005 that Martina Sellers is alleged to have injured her baby daughter, Brook Glynn Nugent resulting in her death on November 23, 2007 after living in a vegetative state since the time she was injured by her Mother, Martina Sellers. Brook Glynn Nugent was born on August 30, 2005 and was only about two months old when she was injured. Martina Sellers, although it has been almost three years since the death of Brook Glynn Nugent and about four and a half years since her indictment for Injury to a Child, has yet to come to trial and have her day in court. Gerald Glenn Nugent, Jr. was also charged in the injury of Brook Glynn Nugent and was indicted by a Grand Jury in March of 2006 for Injury to a Child by Omission. The indictment alleges that Gerald Glenn Nugent, Jr., by omission, caused serious bodily injury to Brook Glynn Nugent and failed to protect her and obtain medical care for her which was his statutory or legal duty as had assumed care and custody of Brook Glynn Nugent. It’s been about four and a half years since Gerald Glenn Nugent, Jr.’s indictment and he has yet to come to trial and have his day in court. But the story of what happened to the children of Martina Sellers and Gerald Glenn Nugent, Jr. does not end there. Through custody arrangements, Martina Sellers’ husband before she took up with Gerald Glenn Nugent, Jr., Steven Bradley Sellers gained access to the young son of Martina and Gerald Nugent, Jr. In June of 2007, Steven Bradley Sellers was indicted for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. The indictment alleges that on October 24, 2006 about a year after Brook Glenn Nugent was alleged to have been injured by her mother and father, Steven Bradley Sellers did intentionally and knowingly sodomize the young boy. It has been more than three years since Steven Bradley Sellers was indicted by a Grand Jury and he has yet to come to trial. As much as this story is about three adults who are getting on with there lives, it is also more about two children who have yet to see justice done, one which who never will. It is the District Attorney’s Office who brings charges, brings cases to trial and prosecutes cases. It is judges who hear those cases. See related stories...
