Driver Arrested After Accident

LIBERTY, July 19, 2010 - On Saturday July 17th around 11:15am a white Ford F-150 pick up truck was traveling southbound on FM 1409 at an unsafe rate of speed and crashed in the ditch.

According to Trooper Abraham Martinez the driver identified as Sandy Franklin Harris age 42 of Port Neches lost control as he was coming around the curve in front of the Westlake Fire Department.

Mr. Harris went across the roadway striking a electrical pole that caused the truck to spin around 180 degrees landing in the ditch in front of the Spin Inn Market.

Luckily the Westlake Fire Department Chieif JR Ungles and a few first responders were at the fire department and heard the crash and responded quickly. Mr.Harris did not suffer any injuries.

Mr.Harris was giving a field sobriety test were he was determined to be intoxicated.

Mr.Harris was taking into custody for DWI his second offense. He was issued a citation for unsafe speed and driving without insurance.
