SO Personnel Seek Public’s Understanding

LIBERTY, January 4, 2010 - Your first line of help and interaction with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is usually someone in Dispatch or a Deputy. These people have nothing to do with the currently scandals surrounding the leadership in the department and are working to make a living, feed families and assist the public in times of need.

i-dineout.com received an anonymous letter this morning from these hard working, front line people who are now experiencing some public anger over the situation at the Sheriff’s Office and they seek the public’s understanding during these difficult times.

Below is the letter that was delivered by a long time, trusted source who has no dog in this hunt from the deputies and office personnel at the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department.

Hi Allen,

With all of the “activities” going on at the Sheriff’s Department, the employees (deputies and office personnel) seem to be catching a lot of flack from the public.

We are hoping that you could post a message for us, the ones who are affected by the public’s anger toward the corruption at the Sheriff’s Department.

We would like the public to know we have nothing to do with all that is happening. Most of the issues had occurred before the Three Amigo’s took office. We are not only appalled like the public is; we are deeply saddened what ha happened to our department.

Since January 2009 the morale has been lower than anyone has ever seen. We all have families to feed and bills to pay; therefore we can’t afford to leave our jobs.

We are afraid if we voice our opinions we will be terminated. We are also waiting for something to be done and for justice to be served.

We are amazed that with the active Federal Investigation of our department heads, that it is business as usual around the office, its unbelievable really.

We are only told to keep our heads up (down if bullets fly) Change is Coming!

We are asking that the public cut us a little slack because we have to work in an extremely bad and stressful environment.

We would like to explain that just because some of our department heads are corrupt, the majority of us at the Sheriff’s Department are not. We would also like to explain that we are not involved nor are we to blame, and still work for the citizens of Liberty County.
