Red Flag Warning in Effect Thursday

LIBERTY, November 4, 2010 - A Red flag warning in effect from 1 pm this afternoon to 7 pm CDT this evening...

The national weather service in Houston/Galveston has issued a red flag warning...which is in effect from 1 pm this afternoon to 7 pm CDT this evening. The fire weather watch is no longer in effect.

Strong winds and low humidity will affect southeast Texas on Thursday. Winds of 15 to 25 mph inland and 25 to 35 mph at the coast will be common through early afternoon. The humidity will drop to between 20 and 25 percent during the afternoon.

Although many areas will begin with wet ground conditions...the windy and dry conditions will help to dry out surface fuels and generate critical fire weather conditions during the afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures will Create explosive fire growth potential.
