Copper Theft in Dayton Solved

DAYTON, June 29, 2010 – According to Dayton Police, Lawrence Raleigh age 57 of Ames has been arrested and charged with Felony Theft in a case involving missing copper from the Amico Klemp Facility in Dayton.

According to investigator Doug O’Qinn of the Dayton Police Department, the copper was noticed missing yesterday and consisted of two large blocks weighing approximately 1,300 pounds each, valued at about $20,000 dollars.

Police theorize that the blocks of copper were loaded with a forklift and transported from the plant.

The lead investigator for Dayton PD on this case is investigator John Headrick, assisted by Doug O’Quinn. Investigator Kenny Dagle with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department assisted Dayton Police as well.

Raleigh was arrested this morning and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
