Police Pursuit Ends Without Incident AMES, August 19, 2010 - Around 11:00 PM on Wednesday night DPS Trooper Chris Cash attempted to stop an eastbound Hyundai Tiburon on US 90. Trooper Cash first noticed the vehicle in the River Bottom and coming into Liberty and it failed to stop at the red light at Main Street.
Other law enforcement officers from the Sheriff’s Department and other agencies quickly joined the pursuit. The pursuit reached speeds of about 90 miles per hour.
The pursuit lead officers east on US 90 to Raywood, north on FM 770 to CR 182, then south on FM 160 to Martin Drive in Ames where the driver pulled into the driveway of a family the fleeing driver knew near the Ames City Hall.
The man had an outstanding warrant from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department and was in possession of two stolen shotguns and a stolen rifle. Luckily no one was injured during the pursuit.
