Batson Trio Arrested in Liberty LIBERTY, June 30, 2010 – Late Wednesday afternoon the City of Liberty Police department was notified of a possible drunk driver traveling eastbound on US 90 through Liberty. Officer Rolando Aguilar of the City of Liberty Police Department located the vehicle near the old White Heron Motel and followed the vehicle as it turned left onto the SH 146 Bypass. According to Officer Aguilar the vehicle failed to maintain a single lane and he affected a traffic stop. The vehicle pulled over near the Cornerstone Church on the SH 146 Bypass.
The driver of the older model GMC Pickup was Lisa Preston age 44 of Batson. A field sobriety test revealed that Preston was not intoxicated however, she did not have a valid driver’s license and was arrested and charged with Driving While License Invalid. The center passenger in this single cab pickup was Crystal Denise Fregia age 25 also of Batson. Before allowing Fregia to drive off in the vehicle a field sobriety test was administered. It was determined that Fregia was intoxicated and she was taken to jail for Public Intoxication. The last person in the vehicle was Ronald R. Preston age 44, Lisa’s husband, who had an outstanding warrant from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. So according to Officer Aguilar all three occupants of the vehicle were arrested and transported to the Liberty County Jail. During an inventory of the vehicle several bottles of what appeared to prescription medication was found in varies types of bottle containers other than prescription bottles.
