Accident on the SH 146 Bypass

LIBERTY, February 11, 2010 - Thursday afternoon around 5:08 PM a two-vehicle major accident occurred on the SH 146 Bypass at Beaumont Ave. that closed Beaumont Ave to traffic while the accident was investigated and the injured transported to the Hospital.

According to Officer Cedric McDuffie of the City of Liberty Police Department a black Chevy pickup was traveling south on the Bypass when a Black Ford Explorer, was traveling west on Beaumont Ave and crossed into the path of the pickup while crossing the Bypass.

The Explorer was driven by Alex John Jones age 17 of Liberty. The Chevy pickup was driven by Tiffany Shellhammer age 22 of Liberty.

Jones’ passenger was Oscar Jones age 15 of Liberty. Oscar Jones was transported to Liberty Dayton Community Hospital for treatment of his injuries sustained in the accident.

According to Officer McDuffie, pending the completion of the accident investigation, Jones may be charged with Failure to Yield Right of Way.

All vehicles were insured.
