Liberty Observes National Night Out LIBERTY, September 20, 2010 - On Tuesday, October 5th, the Liberty Police Department (LPD) will observe National Night Out. The purpose of National Night Out is to bring communities and the police that serve them, closer together. On Tuesday October 5th, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Liberty PD will have all of their patrol cars on the streets and in the various neighborhoods around town. The detectives will also be out and about. They will use the opportunity to meet and greet the citizens. The officers will also have crime prevention literature to distribute, information on NIXLE, and will be able to address citizens’ questions and concerns on a one-to-one basis. LPD’s Community Services Officer Josh Cummins added, “Tuesday evening, turn on your porch light, and come outside to say ‘hi’ to your neighbors as well as the officers that serve you. It’s also an opportunity for the kids to meet officers, and even check out the patrol cars and equipment up close.” Observing National Night Out is one of several ways that LPD uses to maintain community based relationship with its citizens. If your neighborhood or civic-minded group wants to assure a special trip through your neighborhood during National Night Out, contact Officer Josh Cummins at 336-5666. Liberty PD is looking forward to seeing our citizens and neighbors out on Tuesday night, October 5th.
