Two Students Charged with Possession of Marijuana

LIBERTY, February 23, 2010 – School Resource Officer, Barbie Miller had an unusually busy day at Liberty High School today investigating and arresting two students for Possession of Marijuana in a Drug Free Zone.

In the first case, Officer Miller was called to a disturbance between two students and found one of the students to have the odor of marijuana on their person.

Miller received consent to search the student and found a small bag thought to contain a small amount of marijuana. The student also said that she had a pipe in her vehicle, which was subsequently searched, and the pipe located.

Alejandra Aguilar age 18 of Liberty was charged with Possession of Marijuana in the Drug Free Zone and transported to the Liberty County Jail.

In the second incident involving marijuana found at the school, Officer Miller was summoned by Assistant Principle John Welps and received a report of a student smoking on campus.

School administrators conducted a search and fond one student with a small box containing what appeared to be marijuana.

The student told Miller that he brought the box to school, hide the box at the school and smoked the marijuana in a boy’s restroom.

Taken into custody was Chad Tidwell age 17 of Liberty charged with Possession of Marijuana in a Drug Free Zone and transported to the Liberty County Jail.
