Fire Department Responds to House Fire

LIBERTY, December 9, 2010 - The city of Liberty Fire Department responded to a fire in a house on Lincoln Street in the Whittington Subdivision area of Liberty around 5:00 AM Thursday morning.

The occupants of the home noticed that their power went out around 1:00 AM this morning, but due to recent power outages in Liberty, though the entire city was out again and went back to bed.

Around 5:00 AM they smelled smoke and called the fire department.

Firefighters located the problem in the attic where an electrical wiring problem had burned a ceiling joist and quickly extinguished the fire.

Electricity to the home had to be turned off until the wiring problem could be repaired and the occupants were displaced.
