Letter to the Editor LIBERTY, November 3, 2010 - First and Foremost, GREAT job on reporting the election! The spreadsheet was great to watch and your real time numbers were easy to see and understand. It was a much easier way to get the results rather than sitting at the courthouse or listening to Mr. Loudmouth all night! Actually I am a little more optimistic for a few reasons. The REPS can no longer hide behind the "well we're not in power". There is no way they can keep all the tax cuts, cut federal spending, reduce government and reduce the deficit. These are slogans that play well with the Tea Party and Conservatives, but they will not be able to do it and now will have to take responsibility. For over 4 years with the DEMS in control, the REPS have always said "if we were in power we would . . ", well now they will have to man up and do something and cannot hide behind the scenes thwarting every effort of the President to move the country forward. Secondly, every time in history (recently that I know of) every time you have a 1st term president AND there is a shift of power at mid-term in at least one of the bodies of Congress, the President has always been re-elected. The next 2 years are set up for economic growth, job creation, progressive solutions to issues in our country and now the President can put forth his vision and the REPS will have to play ball. The Senate is still in DEM control so that is a great check for the President and the Country. I do not think the REPS can go after repeal of health care and other Obama programs without totaling alienating the citizens. Remember this, the REPS have always messed up when they were in power and more than likely history WILL repeat itself and they will be their own worst enemies! As for the County, that is a different story! Now that there is a Republican majority on the Commissioner's Court, and based on their party platform and ideals, I demand the following:
These are all REP ideals and now let's see them put up or shut up. Keep your chin up, things will get better. by an Election Observer
