L.C.G.S. Members Enjoy July Program – What’s In A Name LIBERTY, July 30, 2010 - The Liberty County Genealogical Society met Tuesday, July 20th in the upstairs meeting room of the Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center. After a short business meeting conducted by President Linda Jamison, members enjoyed the scheduled program, “What’s In A Name,” naming patterns and patronymics as clues in researching your ancestry. Nancy Brandli, a past President of L.C.G.S. presented a PowerPoint program and lecture on untangling the web of generational naming patterns and name derivatives in genealogical research and how to use these tools to discover ancestry and solve “brick wall” problems. There were approximately 25 members present to enjoy this exceptional program. The next meeting of L.C.G.S. will be a field trip to Montgomery County Library in Conroe, Texas on August 17th. The Montgomery County Library houses one of the largest genealogical research facilities in the State and all members are encouraged to take advantage of this trip.
