Genealogical Society Meets Tuesday LIBERTY, November 10, 2010 - The Liberty County Genealogical Society will meet Tuesday, November 16th at 10:00 a.m. in the upstairs meeting room of the Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center. As a part of the business meeting, the L.C.G.S. Nominating Committee will present a slate of officers for the upcoming 2 years beginning January 1st to be installed in December. After the business session, members will enjoy guest speaker Ken Pelt, a member of the Hardin County Historical Society and County Commissioner for Hardin County. Ken is a talented historian and folk artist and has written a book entitled “Boyhood Memories, Volume I.” Ken grew up in Sour Lake with his mother and grandmother at the end of the Great Depression and has cataloged memories of his early life and family history through his paintings. His book contains many of his paintings and reminiscences of his childhood in the Hardin County area. Members are encouraged to attend this important meeting and guests are welcome.
