Major Accident South of Daisetta

DAISETTA, April 22, 2010 - An accident occurred on FM 770 at CR 2018 just South of Daisetta that sent the female driver to Liberty Dayton Regional Hospital by ambulance on Wednesday night around 11:40 PM.

The driver of the Ford F-150 pickup was identified at Evelyn Kay Crockett age 36 of Liberty.

According to DPS Trooper Boyd Lamb, who investigated the accident, the pickup was traveling north on FM 770 when an approaching vehicle blinded the driver with bright lights.

According to Trooper Lamb the driver could not see and ran off the road, then overcorrected loosing control of the pickup. The pickup traveled through the ditch, struck a tree and rolled over on the driver’s side.

Liberty County EMS responded to the scene and transported the driver to the hospital.

The Hull-Daisetta Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene assisting in the rescue of the accident victim, managed traffic control and assisted in the recovery of the vehicle.

According to Trooper Lamb, alcohol was a factor in this accident and will be the focus of the continuing investigation into its cause.

The vehicle was insured.
