Accident Injures Horse DAYTON, April 2, 2010 - Late Friday morning an accident occurred on FM 1413 about one mile south of US 90 west of Dayton.
The accident involved a pickup truck pulling a horse trailer with two horses inside.
According to DPS Trooper Godfrey the pickup was traveling north on FM 1413 when the horse trailer came loose from the truck.
The trailer rolled down a steep ditch on the east side of the roadway and fell over on its side.
One of the horses suffered numerous scrapes but survived the accident well. The other horse was severely injured.
The driver of the truck and owner of the horses was Reuben Garcia age 36 of Dayton. The Dayton Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist with the disabled horse and Animal Control from the City of Dayton responded as well. After examining the horse it was determine that she would have to be put down. According to DPS Trooper Godfrey further investigation into the condition of the hitch and trailer will have to be completed to determine if there are any citations in this accident.
