Mayhaw Festival Kicks Off April 26th DAISETTA, April 15, 2010 - The Hull-Daisetta Mayhaw Festival kicks off on April 26, 2010 in the Hull-Daisetta High School Parking Lot located on Main Street in Daisetta. Events include the following; The Parrish-Hundley Band, featuring Hull-Daisetta's own Mike Parrish and Sammy Hundley will be performing Saturday, May 1, 2010 beginning at 8:00 PM until midnight in the Best Food Store parking lot located on Main Street in Daisetta. Admission is free. Mike Parrish & Sammy Hundley recorded their first album entitled "Texas in the Man" which was released in September, 2007. Since the release of this album the duo has enjoyed seeing 8 of the 15 tracks appear in the European Country Music Association National Top 40 Charts a total of 24 times in 10 different countries. While Parrish's solo album continued to gain notoriety on the European country music scene, Hundley released an acoustic work entitled "House Full of Nothing" in 2008. In 2008, Parrish entered the title track "Texas in the Man" and "Blue Jean Baby" into the International Fame Games Radio Contest, a show that is aired throughout Europe and the world but hosted in Marbella, Spain. The duo was well received among European country music listeners and Parrish was awarded the 2008 International Fame Games Radio Effigy Award for Most Popular Artist. Parrish returned to claim the 2009 International Fame Games Radio Effigy Award for Best Blues Rock Artist while Hundley garnered an Effigy Award for Best Acoustic Artist for his song entitled "Never Letting Go." In December of 2009, "Texas in the Man" and "Blue Jean Baby" were licensed as two of the songs included in the soundtrack of Firestorm Pictures latest release, an independent film entitled "Apparition" which will be released sometime later in 2010. While continuing to win other awards, the Parrish-Hundley Band was most recently nominated by the Academy of Texas Music as one of the Top 5 Live Bands of the Year. This nomination was announced February 15, 2010 by the Academy of Texas Music in association with the Texas Music Awards after judges received in excess of 43,000 nomination suggestions. The Parrish-Hundley Band will attend the 8th Annual Texas Music Awards Ceremony, hosted by internationally acclaimed entertainer B.J. Thomas, on May 15, 2010 at the Marshall Civic Center in Marshall, Texas and the winners will be announced. In the meantime, the Parrish-Hundley duo have been busy recording a second album, tentatively entitled "Black Gold," which will be a collaborative effort and contain solo compositions as well as duets such as their European hit "Texas in the Man." Also, the band has employed the services of A.F. Productions and begun shooting a music video for the title track of the new album and much of the shooting has been done on location in the surrounding oil fields of Hull-Daisetta as well as throughout the communities of both areas. More footage for the "Black Gold" video will be shot during the Mayhaw Festival performance while the last scenes will be filmed at Honky Tonk Texas in Silsbee on May 29th.
