Man Critically Injured in Motorcycle Crash LIBERTY, July 24, 2010 – Sgt. Tony Stines and Officer Cedric McDuffie responded to that area of Washington and Virginia Streets Saturday morning at 1:30 AM in response to a neighbors call of a motorcycle accident.
According to Officer McDuffie a Yamaha Roadster was traveling south on Virginia Street at a high rate of speed. Virginia Street dead ends into Washington. However the motorcycle crossed Washington Street, went into a skid and crashed into a vacant lot.
The driver of the motorcycle Felix Gomez age 41 of Dayton was not wearing a helmet and was thrown from the motorcycle suffering a sever head injury. Gomez’s condition was described as critical. Liberty EMS responded and transported Gomez to the helipad at the fire station where he was transferred to the care of Life Flight and flown to Houston for treatment. The main factor in this accident was Unsafe Speed according to Officer McDuffie.
