Early Morning Accident on FM 563

LIBERTY, February 7, 2010 - Shortly after 3:00 AM on Sunday morning an older model Chevy Caprice, traveling north on FM 563 near CR 142, left the roadway and collided with a tree.

Air bags in the vehicle deployed and the driver and only occupant of the vehicle was ejected. It thought that the man was not wearing a seat belt.

The man, identified as Roger George, Jr. age 35, suffered broken bones in his lower extremities and lost consciousness.

Liberty County EMS and the City of Liberty Fire Department responded to the scene.

The Fire Department established a landing zone for Life Flight on the south side of the accident scene and Life Flight flew the man to Houston’s Hermann Hospital for treatment.

Trooper Jonathan Oduwole investigated the accident for the Department of Public Safety.

According to Trooper Oduwole the man had no driver’s license.
