Fatal Accident on FM 563

LIBERTY, October 22, 2010 - A fatal accident occurred on FM 563 near CR 143 early in the afternoon on Thursday.

A white Ford Explorer that appeared to be traveling northbound lost control and rolled over into the ditch on the west side of the roadway.

The location has been the scene of several major accidents in recent years.

i-dineout.com had not heard from or been able to get an interview with the investigating DPS Trooper, David Schmidt so available information is limited.

Life Flight landed just south of the accident scene to transported injured to the hospital in Houston.

The roadway was closed in both directions for a considerable time during the investigation and clean up of this accident.

The Liberty Fire Department and Liberty County EMS responded to the scene.

The 2000 Ford Explorer involved in the accident was registered to Elizabeth Lewis age 40 of Anahuac, TX according to Public Data.

Little else is known concerning the injured in the accident except that at least one person was killed according to DPS Corporal Rob Willoughby.
