Pecan & Citrus Grafting Workshop LIBERTY, April 9, 2010 - The Texas AgriLife Extension Service - Liberty County and the Liberty County Master Gardener Association is pleased to host a Pecan and Citrus Grafting Workshop on Thursday, April 22, 2010 beginning at 6:00 p.m. The program will be held at the Dayton High School Ag Shop at 3200 North Cleveland Street in Dayton. Bonnie Childers, Jefferson County Master Gardener and Southeast Texas Citrus Expert, will guide participants through the basics of grafting pecans and citrus. EACH PARTICIPANT WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GRAFT WITH HELP FROM EXPERTS. Cost for the program is $5.00, payable at the door. Bonnie Childers grew up in Orange County and began grafting in 1967. Mr. Childers learned grafting and citrus culture from Dr. Arlie Powell, former Extension Horticulturist and Fruit Specialist from Auburn University. He has been a member of the Jefferson County Horticulture Committee since 1969 and has appeared on local television and radio discussing grafting and citrus.
