Escape from Liberty County Jail

LIBERTY, November 28, 2010 - Sunday around 1:30 PM a paperwork mix up at the Liberty County Jail resulted in the release of a prisoner who was in jail that should not have been released.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Department is currently looking for Ron Welch age 21, a white male, 5 ft and 9 inches tall, 150 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes and tattoos on his left and right arms.

The Sheriff’s Department has requested the assistance of other area law enforcement agencies to aid in the search for Welch.

Welch was last arrested on Reese Street in Liberty by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department. Welch also has an address on MLK in Ames.

Leaving the Jail without permission is considered by law an escape.
