Earth Day at the Trinity River Wildlife Refuge

LIBERTY, April 26, 2010 - Refruge Manager Stuart Marcus told i-dineout.com that the Trinity River Refuge Earth Day Event, at the Trinity River Refuge’s Champion Lake Public Use Area was a great success this year.

Over 200 people participated, the most ever.

For many of them this was their first visit to the Refuge. It would not have been possible without the support of the Friends of Trinity River Refuge who paid for the event; the 26 volunteers who helped run it; Thrifty Foods of Liberty who donated some food; and Wal-Mart of Liberty who donated plants for the “wildlife night experience” exhibit; and our hard working staff.

Assembly of tents, tables and chairs, environmental education for the kids, dip netting, fishing and kayak lessons, and information booth staffing were all made possible with volunteer help.

Thanks to everyone who helped.
