Rising Country Star's First Performance in Texas

DAYTON, May 18, 2010 – On Friday, June 11 the newly opened Dayton Community Center welcomes James Dupré, a talented country artist from Bayou Chicot, Louisiana. The show marks the first appearance in Texas for Dupré, who is coming off a performance on the Ellen Degeneres show and the release of his top-selling debut album, It's All Happening. The band takes the stage at 8:00 pm; tickets are available at the Dayton Chamber Offices located at 801 S. Cleveland Street in person, by calling 936-257-2393, or by visiting the Lazy B General Store, G & L Poolscapes, All About Fun, Flowers and More or Thrif-Tee Food Center, Dayton location. Tickets purchased at the Chamber by June 1st will be $12 each.

Members of the Dayton Chamber of Commerce became aware of James through his Youtube videos, which have attracted thousands of subscribers and millions of views. With the support of the City of Dayton, James was given an opportunity to play in Texas at the brand new venue. A spokesperson for the Chamber said, “once we saw videos of James singing on Youtube and experienced his ability to draw you in with his natural singing talents, we knew we had to have him come and perform at the new Community Center.” The Dayton Community Center’s ballroom will accommodate 1400, it has already been the venue for dances, wedding, birthday and anniversary celebrations, but this will be the first concert. “The Dayton Chamber takes great pride in bringing this up-and-coming singing sensation to Texas for the first time,” they added.

James' career is taking off quickly with the release of his debut album and an appearance on the Ellen Degeneres show. The album, titled It's All Happening, was produced by country music legends Kyle Lehning and Jerry Douglas and is one of the top sellers on cdbaby.com and iTunes. Its All Happening also debuted on the country Billboard charts at #68, no small feat for an independent artist. James' appearance and performance on the Ellen Degeneres show helped further launch his music into the main stream. Ellen interviewed James 'on the couch', had him perform on her show and promoted his album to her millions of viewers.

It all started for James through his Youtube channel, which he created in early 2007 and began posting videos of himself singing covers and original songs from his home. As the number of fans following James began to increase to the point of thousands, so did the requests for live shows and an album. Soon, his Youtube videos featured performances at bars and music festivals across the US. The husband and father of three young boys currently works as an EMT paramedic with Acadian Ambulance service, although with his music gaining popularity, one can only imagine how long until he is performing and recording full time for a living.

To be one of the first in Texas to see James perform live, come out to the Dayton Community Center at 801 S. Cleveland street, beginning at 8:00 p.m. To purchase tickets, please contact the Dayton Chamber of Commerce at (936) 257-2393 or on-site during normal business hours located at 801 S. Cleveland Street, Suite B. Tickets may also be purchased at the Lazy B General Store, G & L Poolscapes, Flowers and More, All About Fun or Thrif-Tee Food Center, located in Dayton.
