Dayton PD Receives Grant Funding

DAYTON, October 4, 2010 - The Dayton Police Department is pleased to announce they have received notice from Senator John Cornyn’s office that they have been awarded a 2010 COPS Hiring Program grant award for 1 officer position.

The amount of the award to be released over is $139, 602.00.

The COPS Hiring Program (CHP) is designed to advance community policing by addressing the full-time sworn officer needs of state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies nationwide.

CHP grants provide 100 percent funding for approved entry-level salaries and fringe benefits of full-time sworn for 36 months of grant funding. At the conclusion of 36 months of federal funding, grantees must retain all sworn officer positions awarded under the CHP grant for a minimum of 12 months.

CHP is one of several hiring programs developed by the COPS office since it’s inception to support law enforcement.
