Libertad to Celebrate NSDAR Day of Prayer

LIBERTY, September 30, 2010 - Public prayer and national days of prayer have a long-standing and significant history in American tradition.

Days of prayer have been called for since 1775, when the Continental Congress designated a time for prayer during the forming of a new nation.

The National Day of Prayer was established by an act of Congress in 1952 and in 1988 the first Thursday of May each year was so designated.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution established the NSDAR Day of Prayer as the Sunday closest to October 11th, the “birthday” of this organization which was founded October 11th, 1890, one hundred (120) years ago this year.

The NSDAR National Day of Prayer will be celebrated this year on Sunday, October 10th and Libertad Chapter would like to ask that all churches in Liberty County remember the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution by announcing this special day from the pulpit and remembering this outstanding organization in their prayers.
