Accident on FM 1008 KENEFICK, April 6, 2010 - A major accident occurred in Kenefick on FM 1008 at CR 633 Tuesday afternoon at 3:55 PM.
According to investigating DPS Trooper Abraham Martinez the accident occurred when a 1999 Nissan Sedan, traveling south of FM 1008 slowed for traffic making a left turn onto CR 633 and was struck in the rear by a 2002 Mercury Marquis. The Nissan was driven by Jeremy Cummings age 22 of Dayton and the Mercury was driven by Gwendolyn Harrison age 66 of Dayton.
The Kenefick Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist with traffic control, which was reduced to a single lane during the investigation, and clean up of the accident. Jeremy Cummings was injured in the accident suffering a laceration to the head and was transported to Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital in Houston by Liberty County EMS. According to Trooper Martinez the speed limit on FM 1008 is 55 mph and Harrison received a citation for Failure to Control Speed. Cummings was not insured and received a citation for No Insurance. |
